Do you love animals? Would you like to help them? Bring your family and spend an hour with us learning about the importance of Earth Day!
We will be spotlighting endangered species throughout the world who need our help. On a local level, we will explore what we can do in our own backyard to help out monarch butterflies and honeybees. Local bee-keeper Doug Hawthorne will answer questions about beekeeping for beginners. Oaken Acres Wildlife Refuge will give a brief presentation and share information about our local wildlife. This year the theme for Earth Day is endangered animals. At the end of the program Jo Plenger-Schulz will hand out packets of seeds for butterfly and bee friendly plants, and 5 bee and butterfly friendly plants, donated by Lowes, will be raffled off to those in attendance.
