The Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to present VolksFest Weekend September 10th through the 12th!
Friday night kicks off with the first ever “Rumble on the River” featuring Lucha Libre Wrestling! This special performance features five high-flying, hard-hitting matches and over twenty wrestlers, including stars such as El Maleficio, Corazon de Guerrero, Potro Romano and Alas de Fuego. Mexico’s version of professional wrestling (the term literally means free-style wrestling) is one of the country’s biggest spectator activities today, eclipsed only in popularity by soccer. Characterized by colorful masks, flamboyant personalities and a whole lot of Spandex, it’s an edge-of-your-seat spectacle like no other and something that shouldn’t be missed.
Saturday brings the Biergarten Craft Beer and Wine Festival. Craft beer brewers and wineries from within 60 miles of Genoa will be showcasing their best offerings under the Country Financial Big Top! From 3:30 until 7:30 p.m. There will also be live music by The Lenny’s from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Finishing off the weekend is the Annual Great Genoa Duck Race and Family fun fair! The event is bigger and better than ever this year, and will include music from the G-K Marching Band and local D.J. legend Jake Wesner. Also featured will be jump houses, face painting, a hula-hoop contest and even more! The Great Genoa Duck Race is at 1:00 p.m. when over 2,000 ducks will compete for a chance to win $500!
