Diane with the Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary Club came by to discuss the Taste Of DeKalb!

Kirsti and Sandy from Safe Passage were our Guest DJ's today! We talked all about their upcoming Volunteer & Intern Training. It stars in January and will be about a month long. Application deadline is December 3rd and you can apply at their website https://safepassagedv.org/.  They also talked about their book club for the novel “It Starts With Us” that was rescheduled for tonight at the DeKalb Public Library at 6pm. This is also a hybrid event and can be done over zoom as well. The final thing we discussed was their Safe Bar training and Sexual Harassment Training they offer. This is for any bar or restaurant to take. It helps with awareness and prevention. They will also get a certificate to display saying they are a safe place for people to drink. You can get all the info to sign up at their website as well.

Anna from Neighbor's House was our Guest DJ today. Neighbors’ House is an organization made up of staff, volunteers, and donors who desire to make an impact in the lives of local students. Their goal is to help students shine to their brightest potential. They see an opportunity to serve these children and their families by meeting two specific needs - academic and relational support.

We talked about the Giving Thanks 5K fundraiser, which is in its 10th year! It's a family friendly race on Thanksgiving morning at 8am in Hopkins Park in DeKalb. This scenic course is perfect for serious runners, joggers, and even those who would like to take a stroll with coffee in hand. The Giving Thanks 5K is a great way to kick off your holiday!

Your participation helps provide over 200 DeKalb County students with academic and relational support throughout the year through After School Kids Club, Summer Reading Vacation, Spring Break Music Vacation, and more. Thanks for loving our neighbors!
