The Northern Illinois University baseball team had eight student-athletes selected to the 2025 Baseball Academic All-MAC Team on Monday, the Mid-American Conference announced.

Redshirt-Senior Andrew Smart (Evanston, Ill./Oakton CC), seniors Kaden Kosobucki (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) and Mason Ruh (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran HS), redshirt-junior Adam Brouwer (Tinley Park, Ill./Illinois-Springfield), and sophomores Ty Brachbill (Shelbyville, Ill./Shelbyville), Cooper Cohn (McHenry, Ill./McHenry), Alex Day (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) and Charlie Parcell (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) earned the honor for their performance in the classroom during the academic year.

Ruh is the only Huskie of the eight honorees to earn his second Academic All-MAC honor. The senior pitcher was selected to the 2023 Academic All-MAC Team. He was also a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree this season along with Smart and Brachbill. Ruh graduated this spring with a 3.99 grade point average in sport management.

Brouwer and Brachbill led the NIU pitching staff this season in strikeouts as the Huskies recorded a single-season record 450 strikeouts. Brachbill had a team-high 75 strikeouts in 70 innings pitched as Brouwer added 67 strikeouts in 68.1 innings and led NIU in wins.

Parcell was one of four Huskies to hit over .300 this season while leading NIU with 13 stolen bases. He also led the team with 61 runs scored as NIU set a single-season record with 416 runs. NIU also set single-season records with 82 home runs, 259 walks, and 382 runs batted in.

This is the fourth consecutive season NIU had at least eight selections to the Academic All-MAC Team.

To qualify for the Academic All-MAC Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of games for that season. First-year students and transfers in their first year at their school are not eligible.
