Tons of people use texting as a form of communication and now, so are scammers. If you get a text from a number you don’t know telling you to verify something by clicking on a link… DON’T FALL FOR IT! It’s probably a scammer trying to steal your information.

The scammers use a variety of stories to try to rope you in. They might even promise free prizes, gift cards, or coupons. They might even offer you a low or no interest credit card or promise to help you pay off your student loans. They might even say your passwords or credit card have been compromised.

So what do you do in this circumstance? First off, do not… I repeat… DO NOT click on the link. If the company is legit, they would never ask for any information via text message. If you do think it’s real, then contact the company using their listed phone number. The best bet is to block the number for any future texts.

There are tons of scammer text messages going around including ones like the text below that I received a couple of days ago saying they met so and so on Tinder. My advice to you is simply don’t respond and again, block the number.
