DeKalb County History Center Revives ‘Good Tymes’ Spirit with Documentary Screening
Sycamore residents hold fond memories of traditions such as the rodeo, Kids’ Day Parade, and the old drive‑in theater, but one of the most beloved community events was the annual Good Tymes picnic.
The Good Tymes picnic ran from the 1970s through the 1980s and became a beloved annual gathering that attracted thousands. The event was held in various locations throughout DeKalb County and included an annual T-shirt, live music, and lots of tasty food.
On Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, there will be a free showing of the local Good Tymes documentary at the Sycamore State Theater, at 420 W State Street, Sycamore. This historical viewing coincides with both the Sycamore State Theater’s 100th Anniversary Celebration and the US 250th Anniversary.
