Per the DeKalb County History Center Website:

Our most popular program and significant fundraiser has gone virtual.

This is our largest tour ever compiled! Each of the sixteen homes along Somonauk Street showcases both external and internal architectural features as well as historic significance. Special Bonus with this Tour are two video interviews with homeowners, never-before included on past historic home tours.

From the comfort and safety of your own environment, choose from any variety of viewing options or use all!

  • Magazine Brochure: Online access to each “magazine” showcases the research and vibrant images connected to each home. This option provides the most robust experience of the tour. Visit each address individually and discover the beauty and connection to the past.
  • Text Document: Download a PDF document to print out the text of the entire tour. All text information plus an historic image of the house is compiled in one document for you to save and read.
  • Mobile Access: Select the link to Google Earth to view the satellite map with place markers for each home on the tour. Each stop includes two images of home exteriors: current and historic. Key highlights about each home is also provided. This version of the tour is organized by homes on the east vs. west side of the street, which allows for a drive or walking tour done one side of the street then the other. The Map is accessible via mobile device to see the tour stops from anywhere!
  • Video Interviews: See and listen directly from home owners themselves at 314 S. Main Street and 740 W. State Street, never-before included on previous House Walks!
