DeKalb County Government is pleased to announce One County, One Nation: America 250 Ceremony!
On April 16, 2025, the DeKalb County Board passed a resolution in support of the Illinois America 250 Commemoration, affirming our commitment to honoring this historic milestone through meaningful and educational opportunities for both current residents and future generations.
In recognition of this historic milestone, DeKalb County Government is pleased to announce the One County, One Nation: America 250 Ceremony, to be held on July 8, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the DeKalb County Courthouse. The ceremony will include a public reading of the Declaration of Independence and is envisioned as a community-focused event celebrating our shared history and civic values.
While planning is still underway, the event is intended to feature a variety of activities for residents to enjoy. We warmly invite our community partners to consider hosting complementary events before or after the ceremony on July 8, as we work together to create a coordinated schedule of activities that reflects the spirit of America 250.
Additional details will be shared as planning progresses. Please follow the DeKalb County Government’s website and Facebook page to follow this event as it nears closer.
