DeKalb Community Cleat Closet now accepting donations
Donations for the DeKalb Community Cleat Closet are being accepted through March 3.
The Community Cleat Closet is a donation and trade-in program for new and gently used soccer cleats. The initiative was created as a group project for the DeKalb Chamber Leadership Academy in partnership with DeKalb County United.
Many families face high costs each season, especially as young athletes quickly outgrow their shoes. The Community Cleat Closet’s goal is to create a sustainable solution by providing an opportunity for families to receive quality, lightly-used cleats at no cost, ensuring everyone has access to quality footwear free of charge.
Totes are located throughout the DeKalb and Sycamore area to accept gently-used soccer cleats of all sizes through March 3. Current drop-off locations include: Sycamore Park District Community Center, Old National Bank locations in DeKalb and Sycamore, DeKalb High School, Sycamore High School, Sycamore Middle School, Children’s Learning Center, Chilton Sporting Goods, DeKalb’s Salvation Army Community Center, DeKalb Sports & Rec Center, DeKalb and Sycamore libraries, Northern Rehab in Sycamore, Family Service Agency and Northern Illinois University’s Convocation Center.
There will be a date in March for distribution of the cleats. Anyone who has a need will be eligible for shoes on a first come, first serve basis, depending on inventory available.
