The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the prestigious ATHENA Award and the esteemed Women of Accomplishment recognition. Community members are encouraged to submit their nominations by July 25, 2025, to honor the exceptional contributions of women in DeKalb.

The ATHENA Award recognizes women who are actively engaged in professional excellence, who give back through community involvement, and who empower others—particularly women—to achieve their full potential. Nominees must demonstrate exceptional leadership and live or work in the city of DeKalb.

In addition to the ATHENA Award, the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce honors retired women through the Women of Accomplishment recognition. This award is reserved for those who have made a lasting impact in their respective careers and continue to give back to the community in meaningful ways. Introduced by the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, this recognition highlights the enduring influence and continued service of influential women who are no longer in the workforce.

ATHENA Award nominations are scored by independent Chambers of Commerce across Illinois with longstanding ATHENA programs, ensuring a fair and unbiased selection process. Woman of Accomplishment nominations are reviewed locally and celebrated upon receipt.
