The DeKalb Chamber Foundation is pleased to announce it will host “Impact Local: A Guide to Running for Local Office,” a free, one-hour informational session designed for community members interested in public service. The event will be held in person at the Community Outreach Building (2500 N Annie Glidden Road, DeKalb, IL). Two sessions are available to accommodate schedules: Tuesday, September 23rd at 8:30am, and Wednesday, September 24th at 5:30pm.

The session will feature DeKalb County Clerk & Recorder Tasha Sims, along with a panel of current elected officials who will share their firsthand experiences. This is a unique opportunity for individuals to gain valuable insight into the day-to-day responsibilities and rewarding nature of serving on local boards and councils.

Attendees will learn about a variety of public service roles within organizations including city council, county board, park board, school board, and township positions. The panel will also provide a clear overview of the official steps, key deadlines, and timelines required to successfully run for office. The goal of the event is to equip residents with the knowledge and motivation to step up as local leaders and make a lasting impact in their community.
