Per DCCG Press Release:

July 8 2020 – Throughout July, DeKalb County Community Gardens (DCCG) is teaming up with League of Women Voters of DeKalb County (LWVDKC) to register residents to vote on November 3, 2020. The deadline for online registration for the November 3 general election is October 18.

“We are happy to collaborate with DCCG because we are always looking for ways to reach people who so far may have been left out of the democratic process in this county. Only around 70% of eligible voters in DeKalb County participated in the 2016 election, and we would like to see that figure increase this November 3,” shared Susan Russell, Voter
Services Chairperson for LWVDKC.

This month, at several of DCCG’s food distribution events, LWVDKC volunteers will on-site sharing information (English and Spanish) and registering voters. [See attached Grow Mobile Calendar for events with voter registration] DeKalb County residents must share a valid Illinois Driver’s License or State ID, US passport or student/employee ID. A valid
social security number and a document (such as a utility bill, a pre-printed check or vehicle registration) with name and current address shown can also be shared.

“It makes me so happy to see the different DeKalb County communities work together to make this [community] a better place,” said Linh Nguyen, President of LWVDKC. The LWVDKC is encouraging residents to use their voices in the upcoming November election to create lasting change.

The League of Women Voters of Illinois encourages the informed and active participation in government and works to influence public policy through education and advocacy. Local Leagues hold public meetings on issues, host candidate forums, monitor local government activities, and act to ensure better communities
