Owners of electric cars will soon have a new place to charge their vehicle in DeKalb.

The city recently installed its first authorized its first station with a free charging pilot program. The station is located in the Vaughn parking lot, which is accessible from First and Second streets. There are two parking spots reserved at the east end of Tom Sparks auto for electric charging. The station was funded by the city, and the public works department supervised its installation. If there is enough use, more stations could be installed around the city.
