Brooke Stonebraker Named MAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Graduate forward Brooke Stonebraker (Versailles, Ohio/Versailles) of the Northern Illinois University women’s basketball team was named the Mid-American Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday for her play in NIU’s 82-78 win over Indiana State on Sunday.
Stonebraker led all players Sunday afternoon with 20 points and 11 rebounds in the Huskies’ victory over the Sycamores in the Eastern Kentucky MTE. It was Stonebraker’s first double-double of the season and the 10th of her career. Her layup with 2:28 remaining in the game gave NIU a 72-71 lead, the Huskies’ first of the game. Stonebraker’s 20 points tied a career-high set twice last season while her 11 rebounds were a season-high.
This is Stonebraker’s first career MAC Player of the Week honor. She has been an Academic All-MAC selection three times in her career and was an All-MAC Third Team honoree in 2024. This is NIU’s first MAC Player of the Week selection A’Jah Davis earned the honor on Feb. 27, 2023.
