Northern Illinois University softball student-athlete Brianna Pechman (West Chicago, Ill./West Chicago Community) has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week for her performance in last week’s games against South Dakota State and Central Michigan.

Pechman holds a 4.0 grade point average as she studies political science-public law. This is the first MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week honor in her career.

Pechman started all four games for the Huskies last week, recording a .625 batting average. Pechman had five hits on eight at bats with five runs scored for the Huskies. Pechman scored four times against Central Michigan, including two runs in the 5-2 win in game one of Friday’s doubleheader. The third-year player is leading the team with a .526 batting average with appearances in 17 games for NIU.

The Huskies hit the road for a three-game series against Miami on March 21-22. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. CT on March 21 in Oxford, Ohio.
