Sycamore Community School District 427 is working with the Red Cross to assist families affected by the fire at the St Albans Green apartment complex. A shelter has been set up and is open for families at Southeast Elementary School (718 S. Locust St. Sycamore). At the moment, donations of food and water have been made.

Family Service Agency of DeKalb County is providing relief to help those affected by the recent fires in DeKalb and Sycamore. Per the Daily Chronicle, the agency can provide support including financial assistance with deposits or the first month’s rent, gift cards for gas and diapers and other needs.

Family Service Agency has set up an Apartment Fire Relief Fund fundraising page which will help support the 200 that were displaced in the DeKalb Hunter Properties fires in early July and the over 100 affected by the Sycamore fire.

Open Closet (operated by DeKalb Seventh Day Adventist Church, 300 E. Taylor St., DeKalb) is open to anyone in the community in need of clothing. They also have donated books, shoes, purses, linens and a small amount of housewares, including pots, pans and silverware. Visitors can visit Open Closet during business hours – 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays and 5 to 7 p.m. Thursdays – to pick out items they want – free of charge.

The Spartan Food Pantry drive-thru gift card donations will be distributed by a district liaison that assists families during crisis events.

On Wednesday August 7th from 6  to 10 PM, the Sycamore Chamber in partnership with Blumen Gardens, Taxco Restaurant, The Party Doctors, and Back Country Roads will be hosting a fundraiser gathering with food, beverages, music and hope. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Sycamore families affected by the St. Albans Green Apartment Complex. This event is now SOLD OUT. Spex Expressions is providing free glasses to those who lost them in the St. Albans Green Apartments Building Fire. Free glasses will be provided on Wednesday, August 7th.  Please call and schedule an appointment. Proof of residence will be required.

Texas Roadhouse – Sycamore, IL is having a Dine To Donate night Wednesday August 7th from 4pm to 10pm. 10% of your total bill will added up and donated to the victims of the fire. Just come in and mention the event to contribute!

Parties with Character is hosting an afternoon of fun to help support family and friends who lost their home to the St Alban’s fire. On Monday August 12th from 2 – 4 pm, parents and children are invited to the Paper Doll House in Sycamore to enjoy Princess Meet & Greets, a Bounce House, Homemade Treats, a Make-a-Card station to send love to St. Alban’s families and more! Admission is a suggested minimum $10 donation per family.
