Projects supporting underserved populations in DeKalb County received a boost through the Promise Grant – Subvencion de Promesa program offered by the DeKalb County Community Foundation. Grant distributions totaled $7,310 among six local organizations.

“We are deeply grateful to the DeKalb County Community Foundation for their generous support of our vision to create a community where migrants can thrive, raise families, and pursue a brighter future. Through the Promise Grant, our Bridging Horizons program will provide crucial connections and support for those impacted by migration as they advance their educational goals,” said Rylie Loucks-Kues, Family Service Agencies Director of Community Programming and Outreach. “This grant is a testament to the power of community collaboration. Thank you for believing in our mission and the strength of an inclusive community.”

Promise Grants Awarded:

  • Opportunity DeKalb – $1,100 to assist with startup expenses for the Breakthrough Community Business Academy
  • Neighbors’ House – $610 to organize a family bowling party to foster community among Neighbors’ House participant families
  • Family Service Agency of DeKalb County, INC. – $1,100 to provide essential educational assistance to support migrants and their children in DeKalb County
  • Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley – $2,500 to provide pediatric rehabilitation therapy services to children with developmental disabilities (DD/D), complex disabilities, or undiagnosed concerns while helping their families build skills and access resources to help their child
  • Rooted for Good – $2,000 to purchase highly requested hygiene products to distribute at food pantry events
