Per The Daily Chronicle:

DeKalb County health care providers, first responders and social service agency workers are in need of personal protective equipment in order to protect themselves from the coronavirus, because their supply is depleting at a rapid pace.

Area residents and entities such as schools, college departments, sports teams, manufacturers and fitness places, are asked to donate surgical gloves, gowns, goggles, face shields, surgical masks and N-95 respirator masks, according to a DeKalb County news release.

Donated items should be in their original packaging, but items past the expiration date are still acceptable.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office also needs touch-less thermometers for both officers on the street and for officers in the county jail. Other first responders in the area also need the thermometers.

Call the DeKalb County Health Department at 815-748-2431, or email at, in order to donate the items. Anyone donating should not go to the health department without contacting the staff first.
